Blue Cheese Please

I go to lunch with a few of the guys at work from time to time. There are some people who seem to have issues when they go out to eat no matter where they are at.  Our friend Jim is the one in our group that always had issues. Some people bring these things on themselves, but Jim is not one of those people. Jim is always polite with the wait staff and pays attention to their questions.  There is never any confusion about what he has ordered.  But if something is going to go wrong with an order or the service, it always happens to Jim.  If anyone gets a dirty fork, it will be Jim.  If anyone has a dried lemon seed baked onto the inside of their water glass, it will be Jim.  He had these things happen when out with us.  It was like he was a magnet for bad luck at a restaurant.

One day, we were at Red Lobster.  The waiter asked us if we were having a guy’s day out.  We thought this was unusual, but the waiter seemed like someone who would go on a guy’s day out so we weren’t surprised. Each of the meals included a salad.  When we placed our orders, Jim order Blue Cheese. In the past when Jim had order salads there, they didn’t give him as much dressing as what he wanted.  He thought he could use a little extra.  So, he asked for extra dressing on his salad.  When they brought our salads, he thought they were joking with him.  They brought him a salad bowl full of Blue Cheese dressing and one relatively small leaf of iceberg lettuce.  If the rest of us had liked Blue Cheese dressing, he had enough to share with us all and still have enough for his own salad if they had brought him a normal amount of lettuce.  When he complained, they made it right.  And he never ordered Blue Cheese dressing there again.
