Back when my son was in school, he had an assignment that he needed to put in a folder. He was upstairs in our house one evening and shouted down to his mother to tell her that he needed a folder. He didn’t need the folder immediately, but my wife didn’t know this. Additionally, she had just gotten home from the store where she could have picked one up for him.
She got upset with him, yelling “You should have told me before I went to the store!” He told her he didn’t need it immediately, but she was still getting on to him pretty strong. He told her, “Mom! Why are you making it such a big deal! It’s not like it’s the end of the world!” She replied, “It is if you are an idiot!”
I waited for her to settle down before I pointed out that she had basically just called herself an idiot…
