The neighborhood where we live gets a lot of trick or treaters during Halloween. Our family has always enjoyed giving out candy. When I answer the door I try to interact with the kids. I’ll make comments about their costumes. If I recognize the character, I try to ask them about the movie or television show that the character is from. If I don’t recognize the character, I’ll ask them who they are. I try to keep up with pop culture enough to at least have some knowledge of the latest super heroes and princes and other characters that might make their way to my door on October 31.
This story takes place a few years back when there were a lot less Marvel Comic character films out and I was less familiar with the ones that were. I was a DC Comics fan when I was growing up and never read Marvel Comics. My exposure to Marvel Comics where from TV shows for Spiderman, Captain America, The Hulk and The Fantastic Four. Even when these shows were on, I rarely watched them. Our doorbell rang and I answered the door. When I opened the door, I saw a little boy in a costume that I thought I recognized. I called to my family, “Hey everybody, come look! We have a Power Ranger at the door!” The little boy quickly told me, “I’m not a Power Ranger! I’m Iron Man!!” I responded, “Are you Iron Man 1 or Iron Man 2?” He had to think about it for a moment and then he told me, “Iron Man 5!”
