Haunted Hotel Dresser

I recently went on a business trip.  The trip took me to a small town in Indiana where I go often. I stayed in the same hotel that I had been in during the previous trip.  When I opened the door to my hotel room, I noticed that the top drawer of the dresser was open.  I immediately had flashbacks to a trip I had made to the same town but a stay at a different hotel years ago. During that trip when I opened the door to my room, I noticed the ironing board was up.  My first thought was that would be convenient since I usually iron my clothes for my trip when I arrive.  But when I turned on the lights to the room, I found that the room had not been cleaned since the previous guest had departed.  When I went back downstairs, they apologized and said that to make up for it, they would put me in an upgraded room.  I wondered what an upgraded room would be like at a hotel in a small town in Indiana beyond just being clean.  I remember that it had a refrigerator and a jacuzzi tub, neither of which I took advantage of.

But that was the previous trip. This time when I turned on the lights, the room was clean.  The top drawer of the dresser was the only thing out of place.  When I entered the room, I closed the drawer and it immediately slid back open.  After a few more tries, the drawer stayed closed but only with me holding it closed for a while.  When I put away my clothes, I avoided using this drawer in hopes that it would stay closed. I was worried that it might open in the night and I might run into it during a trip to the bathroom.  It managed to stay closed all night.

While I was getting dressed the next morning, I opened the bottom drawer of the dresser.  When I closed it, it opened again on its own.  I pushed it back closed and while I was holding it, the top drawer opened.  Suddenly my thoughts went to those Three Stooges shorts where they are dealing with dressers that do the exact same thing.  They would usually step through the bottom drawer and put their head through the bottom of the top drawer.  I was determined not to have any of that happen. At some point, tried to wedge a piece of paper between the drawers to create enough interference to hold them closed.  That did nothing to help. When I returned to the room one evening, the top drawer was open.  Luckily, I never ran into a drawer during the three nights I stayed in the hotel.  I never said anything about it until I was leaving.  They did write up a work order to repair the dresser.
