Dutch Boy In The Paint

When my oldest daughter as born, there were a lot of things that didn’t have to be put away because she didn’t get into things you didn’t want her to bother.  I had a lot of music CDs that were kept on the bottom shelf of the entertainment center in our living room that she never touched.  All of that changed when my son was born.  The CDs were moved and a lot more childproofing was required at the Wheeler house.

My son had his first birthday shortly after we moved to Middle Tennessee.  Shortly after our move, my wife decided to paint the kid’s rooms.  When she was painting my son’s room he was left unattended a little too long.  A newly opened can of blue paint was tipped over.  And it wasn’t on a drop cloth.  The carpet got cleaned and the walls eventually got paint on them.  At the time, Dutch Boy brand paint was a sponsor of NBA basketball.  They sponsored reports during the middle of the game on points scored “in the paint” or the lane of the court.  For a short time, my son was known as the “Dutch Boy in the Paint”.
