A few years ago, I bought a new bass guitar amp. Prior to purchasing this amp, I had a small practice amp. I had started playing bass at church and needed something with more power. And all guitarists seem to be continually looking for new and better equipment.
I purchased an Acoustic B100 100W amp. When I got it home, I took it in our master bedroom and hooked up my bass. The first thing I noticed when I turned it on was that all the knobs were turned down to the lowest setting. I would slowly nudge up the knobs to higher settings, play a little, then adjust them more. I repeated this process for a short while with the volume slowly getting louder. I didn’t realize how loud I had gotten until my wife started yelling at me from the living room, “You’re knocking shit off the walls!!!” On the wall in our living room, we had a printer’s drawer with several family keepsakes. This was also the wall between the living room and the master bedroom where I was playing. My first thought was “Oh, no!! I’m knocking shit off the walls!!” Afraid I would break something and end up in trouble. This thought was immediately followed by “YEAH! I’m knocking shit off the walls!!!” I’ve got enough power to do some destruction!!
A few years ago, I swapped this amp for a Fender Rumble 100W amp. When I was trying it out for the first time at home, I didn’t crank it up as loud. But I recently purchased a Fender Mustang GTX 50W for my Telecaster. When I was testing it out, I cranked it up loud enough to knock shit off the walls again. In our current house, the printer’s drawer is now in our music room. Fortunately my wife wasn’t at home when I was knocking shit off the walls this time.
